UNION VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENTS 2021
Policies, Procedures and Info
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Schedules and locations for each event will be released the week tournament play begins. All teams must be paid and accepted into the tournament 2 weeks before the event.

UNION Tournaments are NOT stay and play events.

An email with the schedule link and event specific information will be sent to club directors (via AES mailing) upon release of the live event schedule.

Club Directors and Coaches:
Welcome to 2021 UNION Volleyball Tournaments. Thank you for joining us and we hope to see you for additional events in 2021 and for years to come! Please let us know if there is anything we can do to make this tournament and future events a great experience for you, your team, and your fans!

For each event you will receive one info email from AES related to the tournament, any future communication will be posted on the tournament’s website, www.unionvolleyball.com. It is important that every coach read those emails in full, as this handbook was created in lieu of a coaches’ meeting.

GENERAL TOURNAMENT FORMAT
All Teams:
Teams will play multiple matches in a row.
There will be no “sitting” team and no “reffing teams”.
Matches will be best two of three sets, with the first two sets being to 25 points, and the deciding set—if necessary—to 15. Tiebreaking protocol is described below.
The warm-up protocol will be 2-4-4 for first match of the day ONLY. There will be no warmups for matches played back to back.
Upon completion of the match you will stay on your court until your corresponding court is also ready to switch. You may ball handle during this “stay” time.
Each “playing” team will be asked to provide 2 adults to assist in officiating duties for the match. They will cover score book, score board and ballerTV, line 1 and line 2.

TIEBREAKERS:
Due to feedback from past events there will be no playoffs for pool play ties. You DO NOT have to stay and wait for your pool to complete! You can see all finishes/seeding on AES as the pools finish.

All ties will be solved via the following protocol and data can be found in AES:

Teams tied for position shall not compete in a playoff set to determine seed. Rather, each team’s position shall be determined by the priority system described below.
o Match Percentage
o Head-to-head (ONLY used if it is 2 team tiebreaker)
o Set Percentage
o Point Percentage
o Flip a coin
All calculations are viewable on AES pools online. Please monitor scores as they are updated to be sure this information is accurate throughout the day.
